2020 appears like a good year to use up new hobbies. Let’s take that great, collectible action figure collection you may have. Why not make it a bit more outstanding?
That’s the objective of a video recently released by the individuals at Adam Savage’s Evaluated (not Adam, today, however Norman Chan does a fantastic task here), who recently made a video about turning a fluorescent tube into a truly cool, extremely brilliant lightsaber for your action figures. Because, honestly, Hot Toys is excellent, however those lightsabers aren’t precisely the highlight of the ensemble. Even the ones that light up don’t exactly do a terrific task of it. It’s supposed to be a lightsaber, not a. uhh … dimsaber.
This video goes through the whole procedure and addresses the obvious questions, like, “Where do I get a fluorescent tube?” and “Okay, I’ve got my tube, how do I make it look so rad?” It does not tell you where to get all the nice tools Chan uses here, however that’s where having a friend who’s really into DIY-ing stuff can be found in convenient. Simply put on a mask, grab a few of their tools, and get to work on making the coolest action figure devices anyone’s ever seen.
What’s really great with these fluorescent tubes, as you can see in the video and likewise in the header image, is just how well they photo. They truly make it simple to display your collection in such a way that feels, well, legally outstanding. Which isn’t the typical ambiance you anticipate to receive from action figures. And with a little bit of work and framing, you can even conceal the wires totally. Wires? No, no, these are just lightsabers. You know how it is.
